Chris Huseman

June 9th, 2008 - Thank you, thank you, thank you to all who participated in and volunteered in helping make the 2008 Soap Box Derby Race a wonderful day.  Congratulations to Carson Moran and CJ Cain on their victories!  We look forward to you representing Quincy, IL in Akron, Ohio.

May 24th, 2008 - Registration is officially closed - we have 66 racers lined up ready to roll on Saturday, June 7th.  We have increased our racer entries every year so far - thank you!!!  Now that we have all our racers in order, please keep an eye out for updates such as pit row line-ups, a map of the track operations - vendors, parking, restrooms, etc.  The links will be posted along the left-hand side this page.  Inspection day is fast approaching - Saturday, May 31st.  Again, racers can view their inspection times at the inspection day link.

May 15th, 2008 - The final confirmation letters will be sent out by the end of this week.  Please note, if you have not sent in your racer's photo or biography, please do so immediately to membership@quincyboc.org.   Mark your calendars for inspection day on Saturday, May 31st - the confirmation letter received will have your scheduled inspection time.  Also race day is Saturday, June 7th.

April, 2008 - Time is certainly flying by as we fast approach race day.  We have our last car building clinic coming up this Sunday, April 6th at the Bump Shop.  Also, each racer is invited to participate in this year's Dogwood Parade with us.  We will be showcasing the drivers and their cars again!  Make sure you get your registration form into us before May 1st.

February, 2008 - Only 4 months until race day in 2008!  Already, we have had some very exciting developments for the 2008 race.  Probably the biggest change is that we are flipping the track.  This year, racer's will start on the North end of 18th street near Hollister Whitney Parkway and race South towards Quintron Way.  We are very excited about this change as it is going to make for a better overall event for everyone involved.  The Bob Mays park development is moving along and we are happy to have registered to use the park and the newly constructed shelter house and parking lot this year.  Registration is open!!  We look forward to hearing from you.

November, 2007 - Talks have already began for the 2008 race year!

June 25th, 2007 - We had a very exciting 2007 race this year.  Tanner Kennedy and Brennan Caspermeyer are heading to Akron, OH as our local champions.  They did such as awesome job.  Both of these champions had to face our last year winners in the final race to advance to Akron.

May 24th, 2007 - 64 Cars will be featured in our 3rd annual Soap Box Derby Race!  Registration is now closed and all information should be sent in.  All racers should have sent in their picture and biography at this point.  If you have not, call me immediately!

May 18th, 2007 - Our registration deadline is fast approaching...May 21st!  Please send us your registration form in now.  I am anticipating atleast 65 cars in our 2007 race...a couple off of the 70 cars I originally predicted...

April 12th, 2007 - We are getting down to the wire if you need to order a car.  I strongly suggest you contact us immediately if you need a car as we only have a few left in stock.  This is AASBD's busy time of the year so delivery times will start to take a while longer if we have to order one in...

We've had our first car building clinic already and the second one is already coming up this Sunday (April 15th).  Come on out to the Bump Shop (2116 Quintron Way) and see what the derby is about!

If your organization is interested in being a sponsor of our event, it would be best to contact me early.  Sponsorship opportunities range from event sponsors to having a spot in our race day program.

Watch for us in the Dogwood Parade coming up on May 5th in Quincy!

December 27th, 2006 - I am happy to announce we have set the date for the 3rd annual Quincy Breakfast Optimist Club Soap Box Derby Race.  The date for the 2007 race is Saturday, June 9th with an estimated start time of 9am.

Last year, to say the very least, was by far our best of two races.  We nearly doubled the amount of racers but cut the race time by more than half! For our 2007 race, I'm estimating we will see close to 70 young racers!  What a huge feat and accomplishment in just three years.  I look forward to providing more updates as we get closer to race day.  Please pay close attention to the 2007 dates and latest news sections for more information.
